Moose got a "mainstream" pick, Chris Byrd loses real bad

First off Chris Byrd looked horrible last night and got KO'ed in the 9th. He was slow, weak, and useless. Bottom line is he took off way to much weight. So he was getting blasted as a heavyweight and now as a light heavyweight, it's time to hang up the gloves.

NO exotics this week so the Moose goes with society. Searched far & wide for bums & washed ups but with slim pickens of the cards, I'll go with a Mexican brawl:

Ulises Solisi of Mexico, a 26 year old bomber will defeat the Philippino Glenn Donaire, who can't punch but racks up wins anyway.

Reason for the Solisi win?

- He's a knock-out artist

- He's won at MSG

- Hometown favorite

Donaire fight a lot in the States, but normally at low-level venues. He lost his big shot at the MGM Grand in Vegas.

So, I go with "class"....Solisi for # 25.

Weekend Boxing Schedule-Chris Byrd is a Skinny Minny

ANOTHER rainy crappy Friday in the LumpMeg State. The only fight on this weekends schedule that sparks my Bumpiosity is the Chris Byrd vs. Shaun George fight. The Byrd man as you recall was the slick heavyweight champ for a while before Klitschko destroyed him a few times. Byrd was never a big heavyweight and really had no power but no one wanted to fight him because he was quick, had a great jab, and excellent defense. He wasn't going to knock anyone out and his fights were boring to watch but he made you look bad (which is why he rarely got and big paydays). So now the cat, I mean the Byrd, is going down TWO weight classes to the highly competitive Light Heavyweight division. I mean you got Hopkins, Jones Jr., and Antonio Tarver to deal with. Before I make any judgments I will let Chris get one fight under his belt to see how he looks. This just might be the right division for the Byrd Man to Soar...Larry Lump is one witty ass MO-F...shut ya mouth....

On another note does anyone still watch the Ultimate Fighter on Spike TV? I DVR this show every week and man it blows. It is such a cut n paste basic reality show. Show a scene from the house where the guys are talking trash or getting drunk, show the fighters select the next fight, watch each team train, then show the fight. Seven seasons of the same ol crapola.

Weekend Boxing Schedule-Larry got nada

I really got nada for you today. My posts are not really about bringing you boxing news. There are plenty of sites out there with boxing news, plus I have links and the news ticker to keep ya up to date. So I'm only gonna yap when Larry got somethin to say. Samuel Peter will be meeting a Klitschko in October, unfortunately it's the wrong one. He is going to be fighting Vitali who has not fought since 2004. Must be nice to be out of the fight game for almost four years and then get a title shot your first fight back. Puts a lot of credibility into the sport. De La Hoya vs. Steve Forbes Final Thoughts-Weekend Fight Recap

OK I didn't do enough homework, should of known Steve Forbes would not go down. That was really the only surprise last night. Oscar easily took care of business in his unanimous decision. I actually gave him every round 120-108 (one of the judges gave the same score as well). So is Oscar ready for the Mayweather rematch? Tough call on that one. First of all the first fight wasn't even that entertaining so Larry Lump Lump is not very pump pumped for the rematch. Oscar's jab did look pretty good, but the only way he is going to beat Floyd is if he keeps using it throughout the whole fight and not just the first 6-7 rounds. I still find it hard to believe De La Hoya is going to get two more fights in this year. Especially if he loses to Floyd, who does he fight next, and why??

De Lay Hoya vs. Steve Forbes Prediction-Catching up with Iron Mike Tyson-Weekend Boxing Schedule

Oscar De La Hoya's 3 fight farewell tour kicks off tomorrow night in Carson California where he will fight Steve Forbes, another Contender Contestant being fed to the wolves. Listen, anything can happen, just ask Buster Douglas, but this isn't going to be one of those times my friends. Oscar by KO. The "exotic", as Moose would say, is that he does it in under 6 rounds.

Anyone watch E:60 on ESPN Tuesday night? They had a good interview with Iron Mike who is chilling in his million dollar home out in Vegas of all places. This guys owes the government millions of dollars and he still has a dope crib, phat rides, and still runs around with an entourage. The sad part though is he really looks like a defeated man who is fighting demons every day. But man when they showed clips of Mike back in the day it really reminded me what a force he was. That body shot to uppercut combo took out so many fighters, classic stuff. He also said there is no way in hell he is getting back in the ring with Holyfield of anyone else, he is done. Mike was saying that he gets up to 250K just to shake hands and make appearances now and then, not a bad gig. The fact that he is probably still the most popular heavyweight for whatever reasons good or bad shows how weak the heavyweight division is right now.
