MMA Goes Primetime!! Weekend Fight Schedule

What up What Up Little Fighters?? This weekend boxing takes a back seat to the MMA. We have two exciting cards (for different reasons) happening.

First off on Saturday night, 9pm EST on CBS, MMA goes mainstream when EliteXC shows the first ever card on network TV. And of course the big attraction is the main event which pits James Thompson against Kimbo Slice. This is Kimbo's most legit challenge yet however Mr. Thompson does have a glass jaw so I am sure another Kimbo KO is in the making.
Actually since I missed the Classic Lump this week I will throw you one right now starring James Thomspon and Butterbean:


OK so EliteXC is getting the fanfare because they are the first on network TV (take that Dana White) however the better dukes are on Sunday night when the WEC is on Versus. Jens Pulver against the pretty boy Urijah Faber. This one is going to be fast and furious kiddies so don't blink!

Weekend Fight Schedule-Ricky Hatton is back-Tito Ortiz is Out-Kimbo Slice countdown has begun

What UPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPP FOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOLZ?
How y'all livin' today? Beautiful 70 degree day in the northeast and your Boy Larry Lump got a half day at his income generating job before the long Memorial Lump Weekend.
OK so some decent action this weekend in the fight game.
First thing to yap about is Ricky Hatton is back in his first fight since losing to Floyd Mayweather. Even better is that it's being shown on basic cable, the Vs. Network. Ricky should take care of business in front of his hometown, but who does he fight next? Unfortunately it's probably going to be Paulie Malingnaggi who is fighting on the under card. Paulie has zero power so the excitement factor is just not there for me.
In regards to MMA, UFC 84 Ill Will (guess they are running out of tag lines) takes place Saturday night. This will be the last UFC fight for Tito Ortiz who's well documented battle with UFC president Dana White has reached the point of no return. Tito has been fading as a fighter (but he does get to tap Jenna Jamison on a daily basis) so it's no real loss for the UFC.
So only about a week left until Kimbo Slice makes his prime time debut on CBS. He is fighting another cupcake but of course everyone is going to watch and see what the hype is all about. Is Kimbo the Mike Tyson of the new millennium? Seems that way so far.

On another note does anyone still watch the Ultimate Fighter on Spike TV? I DVR this show every week and man it blows. It is such a cut n paste basic reality show. Show a scene from the house where the guys are talking trash or getting drunk, show the fighters select the next fight, watch each team train, then show the fight. Seven seasons of the same ol crapola.

Weekend Wrap Up-Your Boy is Back

To all you cats who were bustin my chops when I started this blog about my picks....BITE ME.
Your boy has been En Fuego lately. Not only pickin the winners but picking the exact outcomes.
Between me and the Moose you guys should be getting paid in full if you follow our advice!
Let me tell you the first 6 rounds of that Calzaghe/Hopkins fight was a bitch to score but by the end of the fight Mighty Joe was the clear cut winner. You had Hopkins charge in with one big punch then clinch and you had Joe land 4-5 pitter patter combos. Hopkins scored a flash knockdown in the first but after that no one was really hurt. Listen, it wasn't a pretty win for Calzaghe but fights against Hopkins are never pretty. Looking forward to a Joe C. to fight a Pavlik or Jones Jr. next.

I missed the UFC event on Saturday night but I did snag the Georges St. Pierre/Matt Serra fight on YouTube the next morning. Boring grappling fight but St. Pierre controlled the whole fight. Here are the rest of the weekend fight results:

Yawwwn, Larry Lump is one tired mofo...word to big bird. Not much to yap about today except I am looking forward to the Cotto-Gomez fight next weekend. Cotto beats the crap out of Gomez, calls out Mayweather after the fight, and they make this fight happen later this fall.

Who the hell wants to see another Hatton-Mayweather fight, crap, I don't even want to see another Mayweather-De La Hoya fight until Floyd fights Cotto first.
So "The Iceman" Chucky Liddell was dissin' Kimbo Slice pretty good, and you know what, Chuck is right in everything he says. I like watching Kimbo fight but the man has done nothing, nada, zilch, yet in the world of MMA. UFC Fight Night-Classic Lump Wednesday-Assorted Rants

Don't bust my chops. I know I didn't post on Monday. Besides the weekend results I had nothin' on my mind so I let it slide like a 6 pack of white castle burgers. I'm starting to tap out my Classic Lump database so if there are any oldies but goodies you want to see again, drop your boy Larry a line and I will dig them up. This week I found a highlight reel of Quinton Rampage Jackson. This guy is a real character, but he has the skills to back it up. He has a must see fight against Forrest Griffen coming up later this year.

Tonight UFC Fight Night 13 takes place on SpikeTv at 7pm. The headliner is Kenny Florian vs. Joe Lauzon. After the fights the premier of Ultimate Fighter 7 takes place. Coaches this year are the above mentioned Jackson and Griffen. Should be a good season!

Anyone see the Mayweather "fight" at Wrestlemania? It was weak weak weak. There was more excitement when the fireworks show went out of control and landed into the crowd (that one was not planned). Luckily no one was injured.

Looks like the discussed Roy Jones Jr. vs. Anderson Silva boxing match ain't gonna happen. Big bad Dana White, President of the UFC, pulled ranked and said no way jose, don't even think about it. When some of the UFC superstar contracts start coming to an end you are going to see a mass exodus. UFC is not the only show in town these days, these fighters got options now.

Oh by the way I have been trying to snag a one on one interview with Da Moose for about two weeks now. That damn animal is evasive. I sneak up to him, Moose Munch in hand, and just as I am about to reach him he darts off, usually chasing fawns for a little Moose lovin (not a pretty sight). Don't worry though your boy L3 is still on the case!

Don King Snore Fest-Mayweather at Wrestlemania-Weekend Fight Schedule

So I am sitting here watching the Corey Spinks Verno Philips fight on http://www.donkingtv.com/.

It was nice of Don to give this idea a shot, unfortunately the fight blows, and my ass hurts from sitting at the computer for so long. The crowd is now booing. What surprises me is there is 0 advertising going on. No web banners, no ads in between rounds, no links, nada. If Don is going to post these fights online he is missing out on some good ad revenue.

As for fights this weekend nothing got Larry Lump Lump too Pump Pumped, so no picks from me. The best pound for pound boxer in the world is on PPV this weekend though, at Wrestlemania. I wonder what Vince has up his sleeve for this one? It has the potential of being a huge bust, I just don't see Floyd taking ANY chances of getting an injury goofing around in the squared circle. Be sure to check youtube Monday morning to see what goes down.

Edwin Valero to box in the USA-Classic Lump Wednesday

Relax, relax, Larry is back in full effect. No half ass post today. Before I get to the double Lump treat let me tell you a little something about one of the best knockout artists in boxing right now that you never heard of. His name is Edwin Valero, the current WBA Jr. Lightweight champ. 23-0 with 23 KO's. He had first round KO's in his first 12 fights. The Gatti-Ward Trilogy is one of the best boxing battles in my lifetime. The first video is a highlight of all three fights, the second one is round 9 of the first fight which is just out of control. For all those living on another planet, Ward won the first one by decision, Gatti won the next two by decision.

MMA Star wants to take a shot at Boxing-Classic Lump Wednesday

We always hear about boxers saying that they would dominate the sport of MMA. Some of them actually give it a shot (and fail miserably). So now there is a story going around that one of the pound for pound best MMA fighters in the world, Anderson Silva, wants to take on Roy Jones Jr. in a boxing match. I wish these athletes would stop this silliness and just focus on their own sports. Roy Jones would get killed in a MMA match against Anderson Silva and Anderson Silva would get killed in a boxing match with Roy Jones. Case closed.
So I know I am late to the party but I saw the replay of that John Duddy/Walid Smichet fight from a few weeks ago. All I can say is that the best thing that happened to Duddy was that he got his face smashed and cut up. Because due to those cuts he can't fight Pavlik even if he wanted to. Pavlik would of killed him. I scored the fight 95-95 draw, he was lucky to get the decision. The guy takes way too many punches and is a bleeder. Exciting fighter, but not champ material. He is kind of like an Irish Gatti.
OK so I know I will piss a few people off this week but I am giving you another "non-conventional" Classic Lump. This is a tribute to one of the greatest Hockey Brawlers of all time, Tie Domi. I loved it when he would beat the crap out of someone and then pretend he just won the belt. You will see him do it in this clip. Even the fans were not safe from Tie! Enjoy.

Samuel Peter Prevails, Ken gets ShamRocked! Weekend Boxing Results

So Sam Peter took care of business on Saturday night against Oleg Maskaev. So is he "Da Man" in the heavyweight division? Larry Lump says not so fast, he's getting there but he got a few Klitschko's to take care of first, yes I said I few. The obvious next fight would be against Wladimir but in the bizarre world of boxing the WBC made pact with Vitali Klitschko that if he ever comes out of retirement his first fight can be for the title. What kind of BS is that? A guy who has not boxed since 2004 and has been retired since 2005 gets to leap frog all the current contenders and get a title fight right when he comes back? What a damn scam! Secondly, don't you think that Vitali would want a tune up fight or two before challenging the Heavyweight Champ? It's stupid in so many ways. I hope Peters smacks him silly. And if he does who do you think wins in a Wladimir Klitschko vs. Samuel Peter fight?

Klitschko wins because:
He has a 6 inch height advantage, 4 inch reach advantage, and an very strong jab. He also has some power and from watching the Peter fight the other night Sam can take a punch but still needs some serious defensive work (he got hit with some decent shots).

Peter wins because: He has great power, can take a shot, and Wladimir still fights scared and still might have a glass jaw. Peter probably has the psychological advantage because even though he lost in their first meeting he did send Klitschko to the canvas three times in the first fight.


Bottom line is it's up for grabs if and when it ever happens.


OK some quick MMA news. A few weeks ago a past his prime MMA "star" got his ass handed to him by some no name brand fighter in less than a minute. That fighter would be Bob Sapp. Well same crap happened this weekend when Ken Shamrock got KO'ed in the first round against the always dangerous Robert "Buzz" Berry. Shamrock has now lost 7 of his 8 last fights. Why do these leagues allow these guys to still compete? Is it all about the $$$ signs, do they ever think about the fighters health for half a second? The knuckle head fighters don't help matters either. They hit 35 or 40 years old and will always state "I am in the best condition of my life" Brotha please! A 25 year old Shamrock, Sapp, or Abbott will kick the ass of the 40 year old version any day of the week.


Oh PS I know you won't believe me but I actually first wrote on my Friday post that Peter was going to win by KO in the 6th, but for the first time ever for whatever reason I changed my prediction to a decision. Well it still counts as a win for the Lump man since I picked Peter. Yes I had a rough start on my picks at the beginning but your boy L Cubed has had a clean sheet for a while now.

UFC fans get ready for a Real Deal Slobber Knocker on July 5th when Quinton Jackson puts his Light Heavyweight Belt on the line against crowd favorite Forrest Griffen. Let me tell ya, this one has the makings of a classic. These two cats can Bump N Lump with the best of them! Right now my nod goes to Jackson due to experience but I'm not making a pick on this one yet.

OK so I can't believe I have not posted this Classic Lump Yet. May 7th, 2005 Corrales vs. Castillo for the WBC and WBO Lightweight Titles. This was easily the fight of the year. Sadly "Chico" Corrales lost his life in a motorcycle accident exactly two years from the date of this classic. Rematches were made but Castillo did not make weight TWICE!

Weekend Fight Results. Vazquez vs. Marquez Trilogy. Lesnar's next opponent announced.

OK OK I will admit it right off the bat. I have not seen any of the Israel Vazquez/Rafael Marquez (Jeez names are pretty similar) fights. All I know is from what I read it was one of the best trilogies of all time. From what I also read the fight on Saturday night did not disappoint. I got a good excuse though. Besides the fact I don't get Showtime I had to be Big Daddy Lump Lump on Saturday. "Had" is the wrong word, me and my girl had a lot of fun hanging out.

I ALSO did not see the UFC PPV but we did get to find out who Brock Lesnar is going to fight next and when. Before I tell you let me just say that Dana White is really rolling the dice with Brock' career. Kimbo is getting spoon fed easy opponents right now and no one really seems to care. Of course he needs to step it up sooner or later but at least he is learning the business, building his confidence, while still winning over new fans. Even Bob Crapp I mean Bob Sapp was given a powder puff opponent last week and ended up earning $100,000 for his 55 second loss.

On the other hand Brock had to start off with an ex UFC heavyweight champ that is a submission specialist. He almost pulls off the win but gets submitted. Now he has another legit challenge when he meets Mark Coleman August 9th in Minn. Coleman, another past UFC and PRIDE champ is an old man now and way past his prime but he is a HUGE and savvy MMA vet. Bottom line is that this is not going to be a walk in the park for Brock. So what if he has another good showing but loses again? Then he is 0-2, the mystique is gone, and Dana got an ex WWE wrestler who is doubting his skills. Better pull this one off Brock, if not you might just bail on this MMA thing even though you really might of had a shot at being decent.

Tyson vs. Holyfield III? MMA coming to CBS, and it's not the UFC? Weekend Fight Schedule

Lumpy Lumps come out and Plaaaaay. Yoooooooooooooooooo what up kids? Time to do work son, do work! Your Boy Larry doesn't have any picks this weekend but I am sure Da Moose Man will find some underground exotics for you and your bookie to play.

Before we go over the fight schedule lets go over some interesting news over the last few days in both Boxing and MMA. It says a lot about the direction each of these sports is going.

Besides Floyd Mayweather participating in WrestleMania on March 30th we also found out that Evander Holyfield and Iron Mike Tyson are in discussions about fighting again. Haven't enough body parts been bitten off already? I'm not sure who looks more desperate in this situation. Mike is the obvious choice for these shenanigans, but now the Real Deal is going down this path as well? The crazy part is that if the promoters did this right they would probably get me to order this mess on PPV. First of all it can't be more than $19.99. Secondly they should have 3 fights in total, 2 legit fights with up and coming known names and then the old men can get it on in their 6-8 rounder. Reality of the matter is that if it does happen it will probably go for $45, have about 2 hours of pre show BS showing all old clips and then these two fools will go out and basically spar for 4 rounds. Neither will end up throwing any haymakers. The heavyweight division is a straight up SNAFU.

OK so on the other side of the coin does the UFC finally have some legit competition? CBS has just signed a deal with Elite XC, which is the league that is shown on Showtime and also where Kimbo Slice is contracted. The deal seems to state that CBS will air four 2 hour shows per year during Prime Time on Saturday nights. First show should take place in April and Kimbo will be the headliner. WOW. They actually got on network TV before the UFC, pretty impressive. I hope it works but in reality it is probably going to be a bust. Why?

1. MMA is hot, but it is still such a niche sport. 3-4 million viewers are great numbers for Cable or PPV but its just average ratings for a network show.

2. Other than Kimbo they really don't have any well known names.

3. Fight shows have basically been a bust on network TV and usually end up finding their place on basic cable. When is the last time you saw boxing on network TV? How about the Contender? Total flop when on NBC. WWE tried some shows on NBC as well and that failed.

I guess only time will tell.

Heavyweight Snore Fest at MSG and the rest of the weekend fight results

Ohh man I feel bad for the suckers who paid hundreds to thousands of dollars to see that stinker at MSG on Saturday. Wladimir Klitschko scored a unanimous decision over Sultan Ibragimov to unify the IBF and WBO belts. Your boy Larry Lump scored it 119-109 for Wladimir, almost a shut out except for the first round. All Klitschko did the entire night was slap down Sultans weak ass jab then throw a jab of his own. You kept waiting for him to cold cock him with the right hand but Wladimir threw his first right in the 5th round! Yes 4 straight round of boxing with only one hand and he won 3 of them. The crowd was booing, I was yawning, not good. Punch stats at the end of the fight had Klitschko landing 108 jab to ONLY 16 by Ibragimov!

So did this fight create any clarity in the heavyweight decision, absolutely not. To me it still seems like Klitschko is afraid to take a punch to the chin so he fights in a very defensive style. If there ever is a Sam Peter rematch I think he is in for a rough night.


OK had a chance to watch the Pavlik/Taylor fight in more detail. Winner is.....
Draw baby 114-114. I had Pavlik up 58-56 after the first 6 and I though Taylor had the same score for rounds 6-12. Man it was close. At the end of the day Pavlik was probably a bit busier and I really don't have an issue with him winning the fight but damn it was a hard ass fight to judge. Put it this way, judges only scored unanimously in rounds 1 and 11, every other round they were split.


In MMA news, Bob Crapp, I mean Sapp got TKO'ed in less than a minute against a guy who had a 1-5 MMA record. Another novelty fighter bites the dust. I heard some rumors that Pro Wrestler Kurt Angle wants to fight Randy Couture this year. What the hell is he smoking, Kurt will get destroyed!

Weekend Fight Schedule-Larry's Pick

Damn the weeks keep flying by. But we got another good weekend of dukes coming up my friends. Is it just me or are things getting better in the fight game these days in both Boxing and MMA? This might be a long shot, but is boxing better because of the growth of the UFC? I think each discipline is under more pressure to deliver fan friendly match ups because they are both competing for our money. As long as my Lumpy Posse wins out in the end it works for me!

OK predictions predictions. The big fight this weekend is the Heavyweight Unification bout between the IBF champ Wladimir Klitschko (43-3) and the WBO champ Sultan Ibragimov (22-0-1). On a side note wouldn't it be nice if Joe Green and Bill White were fighting because these names are a pain in the ass to type!! Come on American Heavyweights, step up and get the damn title back before I get carpel tunnel!

OK sorry back to the fight. As crazy as this sounds this is the first heavyweight unification bout since 1999 when Lennox Lewis outpointed Evander Holyfield for the WBA, WBC, and IBF belts.
So yes even though this is a unification bout there are still the WBA and WBC champs out there...ahh boxing why can't you get your crap together?
Well in Larry's humble opinion even before this fight, Klitschko has been considered the top heavyweight out of all the champs and I see him taking care of business on Saturday night as well. I saw the weigh in and my man is in great shape, this cat is a CUT 238 pounds. Ibragimov is too small and a little flabby around the mid section. The only way he has a shot is if Klitschko's glass jaw rears it's ugly head (or should I say chin). Wladimir has been on his ass many a times in his career (Corrie Sanders and Sam Peter come to mind) but he seems have worked on his chin ups because he has been able to take a punch in his last few fights. Larry Lump says Klitschko by KO in the 8th.

Undefeated middleweight John Duddy is on the undercard. If he seals the deal with some sausage and veal he is rumored to be Kelly Pavlik's next opponent. I think HBO is going to re-air the Taylor-Pavlik fight too. Your boy L Cubed is going to watch again and pay attention this time so he can really score it. Will tell you what I come out with on Monday.

OK last week we had the latest MMA curiosity attraction, Kimbo Slice, beat the living snot out of Tank Abbott. This week we have another one for ya. Bob "The Beast" Sapp fights on Saturday night in Tacoma, WA. If you don't know Sapp he is one of the most popular fighters....in Japan. Check out YouTube to see him in action. In the US he is basically a total unknown but now he is ready to make his American run. I could easily see a Kimbo Slice/Bob Sapp fight down the road. Two giant beasts with little ground game. It would be brutal and end fast. I would give the nod to Kimbo at this time.

Pavlik and Slice Prevail-Rest of weekend Boxing/MMA Results

Oh man Oh man. I got so many bump n lumps going on in my head. Your Boy Larry went to NJ this weekend to party with some of his old school boys. Went to Pub 17 to watch the Pavlik/Taylor fight. Should of just stuck with the standard kettle ones and tonics but those shot girls are relentless! Back to the fight. What can I say? Good fight but I was very surprised it went to a decision and man it was close! Could of easily been a draw and if Pavlik didn't win the last two rounds he could of gotten beat. I thought Taylor fought much better and he was really popping the jab well early on. But Kelly showed patience and little by little his punches started to get through. I don't know how either of these guys can stay at middleweight. I see them both moving up but I guess Pavlik will have to defend his title first. After that he probably goes to super middleweight. Even though Jermain Taylor lost two in a row, I think he will still be favored in most of his fights, Pavlik just has his number right now. The fight didn't have the fireworks like the first one but it still was an entertaining brawl with two great fighters.

Kimbo Slice vs. Tank Abbott was exactly as predicted. First round KO by Slice. Kimbo is strong but he has still not shown ONE MMA skill. At least Brock Lesnar can punch AND wrestle. Kimbo's skill level is still a complete mystery to me. However I heard something about his next opponent being Ken Shamrock. Even though Ken is 5-10 years past his prime he has true MMA skills which will finally show us if Kimbo can do anything else besides throw round houses.

Pavlik & Slice Bump n Lump their ways to victory

Yeaah Boyeeee. What up my Bizzles n Nizzles? Your boy Larry is throwing two predictions your way this weekend.
Looks like it's going to be an entertaining weekend in the world of boxing and MMA.

OK so the big fight this weekend is the Kelly Pavlik vs. Jermain Taylor rematch. Their first meeting last year was the fight of the year. Kelly gets put on his ass in the second round, survives Taylor's fury, takes over the rest of the fight and knocks Taylor out in the 8th for the title.
Both these guys are ready to throw caution in the wind for the rematch so get ready for some more haymakers. To me it comes down to who has the strongest chin because I feel both are going to get smacked around. I predict more of the same. Pavlik by KO in the 6th. The one weak thing about this fight is that it is a non-title fight. How do you fight a champ and the title is not on the line? That's weak, especially since they are asking you to shell out 50 bones for it and the under card seems pretty lame.

OK so over to MMA. Showtime has Kimbo Slice fighting old school MMA alumni Tank Abbott. This is going to be a blow out. Kimbo Slice takes him out by KO in the first round. After this one Kimbo has to stop fighting novelty fights and needs to face some legit opponents. I bet Brock Lesnar wished the UFC eased him in the biz like they are doing with Kimbo.

On another MMA note, after a 3 fight stint in the UFC where he only went 1-2, Mirko Cro Cop is going back to Japan to fight. Before coming to the UFC this guy was considered to be right up there with Fedor and Randy as one of the top heavyweights in the world. However he got his ass handed to him in the UFC. In my opinion it goes to show that the UFC has the best fighters and all these other little associations out there are second rate.

Hidey Ho Lump-a-loo-skis! Weekend is right around the corner and all kind of wacky stuff is coming up.

Man what is this 1995? You got Tommy Morrison and Michael Moorer fighting this weekend (not each other and both fights are out of the USA). Somehow Tommy scammed a fight on a PPV under card this weekend. He has a 4 rounder the night of the Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. card. How did he get sanctioned to fight again, no clue, but the fight is in Mexico. I doubt he will ever get a fight in the USA again. Good article about the debacle here on ESPN.

Another old schooler in MMA is fighting next week. Kimbo Slice vs. Tank Abbott. This one is going to be a less than a minute mess. Kimbo is going to kill Tank, who let's be honest, really never was that great of an MMA fighter (10-13 record). Plus he is waayyy past his prime (did he ever have a prime?). Anyways here is a good article about Tank.

OK so the fight I am looking most forward to this weekend is Paul Williams vs. Carlos Quintana. 12 Rounds Welterweights on HBO Saturday night. To me Paulie makes up the welterweight trifecta (Mayweather and Cotto are the other two). I saw Williams fight Antonio Margarito and he looked great. I have no clue how this guy can stay in the welterweight division, he's 6' 1" with an 82 inch reach. Larry says Williams jabs away and gets the unanimous decision. Not sure if they are going to show the heavyweight under card fight, but the guy Cliff Couser's claim to fame is that he once said he was Mike Tyson's brother. Not sure if he is still slinging that BS, but damn he did sure look like Mike!

I'm writing this post in Giants Blue in tribute!!. Unreal. Unbelievable. Amazing. Your boy Larry Lump has a few shots and beers in him right now after seeing his NY Giants shock da world against the Patriots. I mean this is one of the biggest upsets in a championship game...period. That last drive was out of control. The play when Manning was 99.5% sacked and then David Tyree catches a pass using his head....just out of control!!! This is one hangover that is worth it!

So about that Brock Lesnar vs. Frank Mir fight on Saturday night. If you did not see it YouTube has a few links (they probably will be taken down soon so check quick!). Don't forget to sort your search results by Date Added.

I honestly believe that even though Brock had to submit via the knee bar he still has a future in the UFC. Brock controlled 98% of the fight, unfortunelty he did not control the last 2% which is when he got snagged. Classic example of experience winning over strenghth. I mean during the entire fight Brock was landing bombs on Mir's head and I almost thought they were going to stop it at one point. But Mir weathered the storm, missed on an arm bar or two, and finally was able to grab the big man's leg and make him tap out. Honestly I think Dana White jumped the gun on this one. He has the great name brand talent (Lesnar) with huge potential and he puts him in his first UFC fight with an ex-heavyweight champ, co-headlining a PPV event. I mean come on man, why don't you ease the guy into the sport. Let him get 2-3 tune ups under his belt first. Mike Tyson who was the youngest heavyweight champ ever had 27 fights before getting a title shot. He fought a ton of buttercups and no one ever questioned the fact that he was the baddest man on the planet at that time.

Hopefully Brock will regroup, learn some better defense and bounce back in his next MMA fight. As for Mir, he showed heart, smarts, and skills, it was a nice job all around. He deserves a shot at a top 5 contender.
