Oscar De La Hoya's 3 fight farewell tour kicks off tomorrow night in Carson California where he will fight Steve Forbes, another Contender Contestant being fed to the wolves. Listen, anything can happen, just ask Buster Douglas, but this isn't going to be one of those times my friends. Oscar by KO. The "exotic", as Moose would say, is that he does it in under 6 rounds.

Anyone watch E:60 on ESPN Tuesday night? They had a good interview with Iron Mike who is chilling in his million dollar home out in Vegas of all places. This guys owes the government millions of dollars and he still has a dope crib, phat rides, and still runs around with an entourage. The sad part though is he really looks like a defeated man who is fighting demons every day. But man when they showed clips of Mike back in the day it really reminded me what a force he was. That body shot to uppercut combo took out so many fighters, classic stuff. He also said there is no way in hell he is getting back in the ring with Holyfield of anyone else, he is done. Mike was saying that he gets up to 250K just to shake hands and make appearances now and then, not a bad gig. The fact that he is probably still the most popular heavyweight for whatever reasons good or bad shows how weak the heavyweight division is right now.

Cotto wins by TKO, another Contender get's destroyed, it's deja vu all over again

Well if you watched the Larry Lump/Moose interview on Friday you would of known that Cotto by TKO was a lock. The fight went EXACTLY as L Cubed Predicted. OK so the Moose Man had it a little harder this weekend. His boy Phlegm..oops I mean Glen Johnson fought pretty good even though he lost a 12 round decision to Chad Dawson. However the crowd was booing the result so it seems like some controversy took place. If you recall Da Moose said three bodily fluids would of been release by Johnson. It's very hard to confirm these facts because mainstream media tends to shy away from this kind of business, but I would not be surprised if Glen was able to keep his bowels under control.

Marquez/Pacquiao Prediction-Weekend Boxing Schedule-Who is Saoul Mamby?

Yo Lumpaputans this is my last post for a few days. I know it's hard to believe, but yes it's true, BUMPnLUMP is not a full time gig. No, it has not made me riches (actually hasn't made me $20 yet). So next week I am out on business. I might get a post in on Monday, but don't be too upset, we might be without a Classic Lump next week.
Anyways good fight schedule this weekend with the headliner being Manuel Marquez (48-3-1, 35 KOs) vs. Manny Pacquaio (45-3-2, 35 KOs) for the WBC super featherweight title. These are little cats with POWER. First one was a classic with Marquez rallying from being knocked down three times in the first round. Fight was scored a draw. I don't think Manny is going to make the same mistake twice. Pacquaio winner by decision.
Sakio Bika, the Contender Champ fights on the under card. He had the crazy slug fest against Jaidon Codrington. If his defense is as bad at it was that night he is going to get taken out.
Pete Manfredo, another Contender is on ESPN2 Friday night.

The embarrassing part is the 6-25 guy who just beat him is 32 years old and it took him 10 rounds to get the decision!
Part of me says WOW, a 60 year old guy just went 10 rounds with a 32 year old fighter. I sparred a few times in my life and my sessions were 3-4 two minute rounds and I was sucking wind big time. But the other part of me says, how the hell do they allow 60 year old guys and guys with 6-25 records even step foot in the ring? Makes you wonder why NY barred Holyfield a few years ago just cause he lost a couple of fights by decision. Any one else got another view about this nonsense? Let your boy Larry know. I got some easy money for you this weekend, I promise. Bet that Samuel Peter will throw a right hand before the end of round 3. Yes, I know it's a crazy bet and if you placed the same bet two weeks ago on Klitschko you would of LOST! But trust me he will and so will Maskaev.

We got some big hitters here but I still have a weird feeling it's going to go 12. Even though Sammy Baby hit the canvas three times in his last fight (and won) I am going to say he takes the decision. He is the only legit competition for Klitschko and if he seals the deal the rematch will have to be made. On the undercard we have Mr. Clinch himself Johnny Ruiz trying to make one more title run. This guy had way too many title fights and how he even was champ for a while just goes to show what a mess the heavyweight division is. But there is light at the end of the tunnel. Peters wins, rematch with Klitschko, and the winner in Larry Lump's humble 'pinion, is the real heavyweight champ regardless of belts.

We also got cruiserweights, flyweights, and lightweight titles on the line this weekend as well. Lot's o' Action Ms. Jackson (I am for reaaaal).

Weekend Fight Schedule-Larry's Pick

Damn the weeks keep flying by. But we got another good weekend of dukes coming up my friends. Is it just me or are things getting better in the fight game these days in both Boxing and MMA? This might be a long shot, but is boxing better because of the growth of the UFC? I think each discipline is under more pressure to deliver fan friendly match ups because they are both competing for our money. As long as my Lumpy Posse wins out in the end it works for me!

OK predictions predictions. The big fight this weekend is the Heavyweight Unification bout between the IBF champ Wladimir Klitschko (43-3) and the WBO champ Sultan Ibragimov (22-0-1). On a side note wouldn't it be nice if Joe Green and Bill White were fighting because these names are a pain in the ass to type!! Come on American Heavyweights, step up and get the damn title back before I get carpel tunnel!

OK sorry back to the fight. As crazy as this sounds this is the first heavyweight unification bout since 1999 when Lennox Lewis outpointed Evander Holyfield for the WBA, WBC, and IBF belts.
So yes even though this is a unification bout there are still the WBA and WBC champs out there...ahh boxing why can't you get your crap together?
Well in Larry's humble opinion even before this fight, Klitschko has been considered the top heavyweight out of all the champs and I see him taking care of business on Saturday night as well. I saw the weigh in and my man is in great shape, this cat is a CUT 238 pounds. Ibragimov is too small and a little flabby around the mid section. The only way he has a shot is if Klitschko's glass jaw rears it's ugly head (or should I say chin). Wladimir has been on his ass many a times in his career (Corrie Sanders and Sam Peter come to mind) but he seems have worked on his chin ups because he has been able to take a punch in his last few fights. Larry Lump says Klitschko by KO in the 8th.

Undefeated middleweight John Duddy is on the undercard. If he seals the deal with some sausage and veal he is rumored to be Kelly Pavlik's next opponent. I think HBO is going to re-air the Taylor-Pavlik fight too. Your boy L Cubed is going to watch again and pay attention this time so he can really score it. Will tell you what I come out with on Monday.

OK last week we had the latest MMA curiosity attraction, Kimbo Slice, beat the living snot out of Tank Abbott. This week we have another one for ya. Bob "The Beast" Sapp fights on Saturday night in Tacoma, WA. If you don't know Sapp he is one of the most popular fighters....in Japan. Check out YouTube to see him in action. In the US he is basically a total unknown but now he is ready to make his American run. I could easily see a Kimbo Slice/Bob Sapp fight down the road. Two giant beasts with little ground game. It would be brutal and end fast. I would give the nod to Kimbo at this time.

Pavlik & Slice Bump n Lump their ways to victory

Yeaah Boyeeee. What up my Bizzles n Nizzles? Your boy Larry is throwing two predictions your way this weekend.
Looks like it's going to be an entertaining weekend in the world of boxing and MMA.

OK so the big fight this weekend is the Kelly Pavlik vs. Jermain Taylor rematch. Their first meeting last year was the fight of the year. Kelly gets put on his ass in the second round, survives Taylor's fury, takes over the rest of the fight and knocks Taylor out in the 8th for the title.
Both these guys are ready to throw caution in the wind for the rematch so get ready for some more haymakers. To me it comes down to who has the strongest chin because I feel both are going to get smacked around. I predict more of the same. Pavlik by KO in the 6th. The one weak thing about this fight is that it is a non-title fight. How do you fight a champ and the title is not on the line? That's weak, especially since they are asking you to shell out 50 bones for it and the under card seems pretty lame.

OK so over to MMA. Showtime has Kimbo Slice fighting old school MMA alumni Tank Abbott. This is going to be a blow out. Kimbo Slice takes him out by KO in the first round. After this one Kimbo has to stop fighting novelty fights and needs to face some legit opponents. I bet Brock Lesnar wished the UFC eased him in the biz like they are doing with Kimbo.

On another MMA note, after a 3 fight stint in the UFC where he only went 1-2, Mirko Cro Cop is going back to Japan to fight. Before coming to the UFC this guy was considered to be right up there with Fedor and Randy as one of the top heavyweights in the world. However he got his ass handed to him in the UFC. In my opinion it goes to show that the UFC has the best fighters and all these other little associations out there are second rate.

Hidey Ho Lump-a-loo-skis! Weekend is right around the corner and all kind of wacky stuff is coming up.

Man what is this 1995? You got Tommy Morrison and Michael Moorer fighting this weekend (not each other and both fights are out of the USA). Somehow Tommy scammed a fight on a PPV under card this weekend. He has a 4 rounder the night of the Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. card. How did he get sanctioned to fight again, no clue, but the fight is in Mexico. I doubt he will ever get a fight in the USA again. Good article about the debacle here on ESPN.

Another old schooler in MMA is fighting next week. Kimbo Slice vs. Tank Abbott. This one is going to be a less than a minute mess. Kimbo is going to kill Tank, who let's be honest, really never was that great of an MMA fighter (10-13 record). Plus he is waayyy past his prime (did he ever have a prime?). Anyways here is a good article about Tank.

OK so the fight I am looking most forward to this weekend is Paul Williams vs. Carlos Quintana. 12 Rounds Welterweights on HBO Saturday night. To me Paulie makes up the welterweight trifecta (Mayweather and Cotto are the other two). I saw Williams fight Antonio Margarito and he looked great. I have no clue how this guy can stay in the welterweight division, he's 6' 1" with an 82 inch reach. Larry says Williams jabs away and gets the unanimous decision. Not sure if they are going to show the heavyweight under card fight, but the guy Cliff Couser's claim to fame is that he once said he was Mike Tyson's brother. Not sure if he is still slinging that BS, but damn he did sure look like Mike!

Jones-Trinidad and the winner is...

Jones by unanimous decision. Hmmm didn't Larry's post on Friday start with the exact same words? Your boy Larry called it perfectly the last two weeks, not only calling out the winner but calling out the way the victory was going to go down. Yes I ain't gonna lie, when I started the blog my first few picks were just a tad off. But now both Stella and Larry got their grooves back. As for the fight, Jones actually gave away the first 3 rounds to Tito and I was telling myself this guy better pick up the pace otherwise he is going to get outpointed. Little by little Jones did that as he picked his punches and began to land more and more. By the late rounds it was easy pickins and he put Tito on his ass in the 7th and the 10th. Trinidad is done, adios hermano. However Jones looked pretty good (but was it only because he was against a second level opponent)? Well his next fight will probably be for a championship or against a number 1 contender. Guess we will find out then.
As for the undercard it pretty much blew until the Golota-Molla heavyweight fight. This one was pretty entertaining but it sure didn't win any style points with a ton of flailing punches and clinches. Molla was the much smaller but faster guy in the beginning rounds and his wild man style was somewhat effective until he blew his load by the 6th. I have no clue how this fight went the full 12, Molla was spent, half the time he was using Golota to keep him up. I got to give credit to big Andrew because his left eye closed up 100% in about the 6th round. If you did not see it there are two ways to explain it. Think back to Rocky 1 and remember how his eyes looked by the end of the Creed fight? Got that visual, good, cause it looked even worse than that. The other way to explain it is a little grosser but think of a certain female part of the anatomy (in a horizontal position). This thing was closed shut. But the bil ol' Pole did not quit and scored the unanimous decision. Unreal as it may seem Golota might be in line for ANOTHER shot at a title.

Weekend Fight Schedule plus the winner of Jones Jr. vs. Trinidad is.....

Jones Jr. by unanimous decision. Case closed. Tito has been dormant for over 2 1/2 years (and he lost that fight back in 05). At least Jones has been semi active and I still feel his speed will overwhelm Tito. Listen, this fight is a joke, it has no real implication in their weight class. No matter what these cats tell you it is definitely a one and done for the loser, and probably one more fight after this for the winner. Both these guys are calling out opponents that they should of been fighting years ago. Let's hope for an entertaining brawl at least. The under card is not too shabby on this one. Cory Spinks and Andrew Golota will be fighting as well.

Let's not forget that the WBA heavyweight title is also on the line this weekend in Germany. Hey Moose who you like in this one and why, the champ Chagaev or the challenger Skelton?
Can't wait to hear what da Moose man thinks.

Miranda by KO. If he loses this fight it's time for Miranda to shut it down. David Banks is the pretty boy fighter from The Contender. He has 0 power by the way.
Another Contender fighter is on tonight as well. Sergio Mora finally gets back in the ring. This cat is all hype in my opinion. The best fighter as of today to come out of that TV show is Alfonso Gomez who put my boy Arturo Gatti into retirement.

Yo Yo Yo Larry Lump back from the dead. I'm sorry, I'm sorry but it's been a little slow in the fight game these days. I hate to say it but I am starting to look forward to the Roy Jones Felix Trinidad fight to pump things up.

With that said Larry is going to pick The Magic Man Paulie Malignaggi over Herman Ngoudjo by a decision when they duke it out for Paulie's IBF junior welterweight belt Saturday night. Neither guy has really any power so it's going to come down to speed and heart, and I'm pickin Paulie.

Mayweather Hatton Prediction. And the winner is....

Hold up wait a minute let me put some LUMP LUMP in it. What up What Up? Up ya What Up ya What? (know what movie that is from?). One more day till the big one baby. Your boy Larry is all pumped and lumped up for this one. So let me get straight to the point and let you know that Ricky Hatton is going to pull off a split decision on this one. Floyd should of lost against De LA Hoya, but for some reason Oscar let him off the hook and did not keep up the pressure in the late rounds. If you recall, after the first six Oscar was up on most cards. Ricky is not going to let that happen. He will bully, grapple, punch hard, and frustrate the crap out of Floyd. Hatton's lack of "boxing" skills will actually be his benefit. Mayweather will put up a great defense, do his usual pitter patter point scoring flurries, but I don't think it will be enough. If the judges go by who is the aggressor and who is bringing the fight, then Ricky Hatton can pull it off. What's going against Ricky? Well a lot. First of all the fight is in Vegas, Floyd's hometown, in regards, city, state, and country! Plus it is for Mayweather's title, so he is the champ, and I always believe in order to win a belt from a champ you need to "take" it from him. If you don't win in a convincing fashion you have not earned it. Of course lets not forget that Mayweather is a great fighter, he has not gotten to where he is because of all the crap he talks, he does back it up. Anyways as long as it doesn't turn into a 3 punch, clinch, 3 punch clinch, affair we should be in for a good one.

I should also mention the under card has an interesting one as well. Jeff Lacy vs. Peter Manfredo. Personally I think Manfredo is all hype, he is just getting these fights because of being on "The Contender" TV show. I think Lacy has way more skillz to pay the billz, but both are coming off surgery's. I still think Lacy should win.

Hulk Hogan getting Divorce, plus weekend fight results

Say it ain't so Hulkster! After 23 years of marriage his wife Linda wants out. Even worse, Hulk heard the news from a reporter while driving in his car. Not sure if anyone watches their reality show on VH1, but they did talk about getting divorced this year but it seemed like they were able to patch things up. Adding to this mess is that their son Nick is in some major legal trouble for crashing his ride while street racing. His passenger has serious brain damage and could possibly die. I feel for ya Hulk, from the show it seemed like you were the only real revenue generator (although Brooke is starting up her singing career) and now you are going to lose almost all of it between your wife and your son's legal woes. I'm sure Vince McMahon has a financial solution if you want to make another deal with the devil.

As for the Mayorga/Vargas fight it played out ALMOST as predicted, there were 2 knockdowns but amazingly it went to the scorecard. Mayorga got the win and Larry Lump got another pick right but I also have to give props to a BUMPnLUMP reader named MOOSE who is now 5-0. He writes some "eccentric" posts from time to time but when it comes to noses and fights he always picks a winner! Nice job.

Mayweather Hatton 24/7 was great again last night. Damn show, I was not going to pay for this fight but now if I can't mooch off someone else I am going to have to shell out the loot. I really think Ricky has a shot to upset Pretty Boy Floyd. If you haven't started watching this show yet, what the hell you waiting for???

1. Mayorga knocks out Vargas in 6. Vargas is off the "juice" , had an iron deficiency a few months back, and is saying this is his last fight. Even though Mayorga smokes cigarettes while training I am going to give him the nod. Should be a lot of haymakers in this one, but it shouldn't cost $45 to see.

2. Tyson goes camping: 24 hours in an "open tent" prison where he ate sloppy joes and read American Gangster. Where do I sign up????

3. Tito Ortiz to Star on "The Apprentice Celebrity Edition". The Huntington Bad Boy will soon be hearing "You're Fired" from both Donald Trump and Dana White.

well, hmmm, let's see. Last week the older, faster, and more experienced guy (Calzaghe) beat the stronger, slower, younger guy (Kessler). Nope, I'm not buying it. Cotto TKO in the 8th. OK OK the Lump man is 0-2 but I really think it's Cotto's time to shine. Contender Finale tonight 9pm on ESPN

The Contender is not a good show, let me just get that out of the way. I always DVR it, fast forward all the "reality" parts and go directly to the fights. Even then I hate the way they show the fights. They cut n' paste vs. showing the whole thing and use slow motion and music to try and make it more dramatic. Doesn't work for me. Other than Alfonso Gomez (who sent my man Arturo Gatti into retirement) none of these "Contender Champions" have done a damn thing (including you Sergio Mora). With all that said I am going to watch the finale tonight. I'm picking Jaidon Codrington over Sakio Bika. Sakio is too wild in his punches and probably will get knocked out because he keeps himself way too exposed. The good news is that tonight is live and they will be showing the fights in their entirety.

On a totally different topic I rented Grindhouse the other day. You know the Tarantino/Rodriguez double feature? Quentin's movie, "Death Proof" was weak weak weak. Two decent car crash/chases, but the rest of the movie was brutal. Even the classic Tarantino dialogue was non-existent. The Robert Rodriguez Zombie flix, "Planet Terror" was another story.
Totally remained true to the Grindhouse theme. Gross, funny, with a few hot chicks thrown in for good measure. You can rent them separately so stick with Planet Terror.
