Guaranteed KO tonight on ESPN2

Good afternoon my lil lumpers. Larry Lump is draggin and saggin, winter blues in full effect. Not much going on this weekend in the fight world, however ESPN2 is the place to be tonight if you want to see someone's bell rung. I am talking about the Edison Miranda vs. David Banks fight. Miranda by KO. If he loses this fight it's time for Miranda to shut it down. David Banks is the pretty boy fighter from The Contender. He has 0 power by the way.
Another Contender fighter is on tonight as well. Sergio Mora finally gets back in the ring. This cat is all hype in my opinion. The best fighter as of today to come out of that TV show is Alfonso Gomez who put my boy Arturo Gatti into retirement.

Good day my Lump-A-Putins. Willy sent me an email this morning and he got something to say. Took ya long enough Cuz! Anyways without further ado the first for 2008 "In This Corner with Willy Lump"

Willy just getting over that New Years hang over….And yes it took a solid 10 days.

Even though I have been OOC, your boy has been brewing over an article I read at the end of last year about one of your heavyweight champs. Wladimir Klitschko has teamed up with Laureus Sport for Good Foundation, to come with the idea of…let’s call it an offer…to his fans to pay $199.00 USD to have their name printed on his robe which he will wear to the ring at MSG for his fight in February. In return for you $199.00 USD you will receive a certificate signed by Wladimir…..Now my initial thoughts on this was this was cool idea based on the fact that it goes to help the kids, but then the more I thought about I started to feel as if this guy has millions of dollars and yet if he is feeling charitable why go this route.

I mean let’s look at this from a different angle here. Wlad is signed to HBO and has the majority is not all of his fights on HBO, question how much do you think he has received for that deal? Endorsements with Hugo Boss, how much for that deal? How much of a cut from ticket sales from all of his fight in Germany and such? So now that he is fighting more in the states and is feeling all charitable does he really feel like we should be honored to have my name on his robe that he will in turn auction off. Am I missing something here? This guy has millions of dollars and he is asking his fans to donate money to a charity.

We need to kick this blog into high gear. It's time for the championship rounds. I can only think of so many things to rant about. I want to hear from you. What's on you mind, what 'pinions you got about the fight game. Any wrestling fans out there, start something up why don't ya don't ya. Tell your boy what you want to know more about, tell your boy about the good, the bad, and the ugly in the fight game. Knuckle up my brothers BUMPnLUMP wants to be the sounding board for all.

How's it hanging Lump-A-Loo's?
In tribute to the upcoming Jones Jr./Trinidad fight I am going to highlight classic lumps from both fighters. First up is Roy Jones Jr. Check out this video highlight (damn why they got to show him lumpin up Vinny Paz so much!)



Yahoo has an online video program called Outside the Ring which follows around Jones and Trinidad (similar to the HBO style shows). Looks like they have episode 1 & 2 available online. You can find it here:

Weekend Boxing and Prediction Results

Happy Monday Lump-a-Holics. I didn't get to see the Malignaggi/Ngoudjo fight over the weekend but I was happy to see I called it right and have moved back to a respectable 3-3 on my picks. Sounds like the Magic Man was calling out Hatton after the fight. That would be an interesting one, I hope they can lock it up. Also Moose got another pick right this week so I think he is now 11-0, go Moooooooooooooooooooooose.
Anyone see American Gladiator last night? Yawwwwn, same crap as it was 10 years ago, even most of the events are the same. This show will probably be shut down in 2-3 months tops.
The countdown has officially started for Jones Jr. vs. Trinidad. With that in mind I have added a poll to the site so let me know who you think is going to win.

Yo Yo Yo Larry Lump back from the dead. I'm sorry, I'm sorry but it's been a little slow in the fight game these days. I hate to say it but I am starting to look forward to the Roy Jones Felix Trinidad fight to pump things up.

With that said Larry is going to pick The Magic Man Paulie Malignaggi over Herman Ngoudjo by a decision when they duke it out for Paulie's IBF junior welterweight belt Saturday night. Neither guy has really any power so it's going to come down to speed and heart, and I'm pickin Paulie.

1st Classic Lump of 2008

Oh man, Larry got Lumped last night, hence the late post. Gonna keep this one short and sweet.
This weeks Classic Lump stars one of the hardest hitting white boys in boxing history, Tommy Morrison. The guy had great natural strength and talent, but unfortunately he was poorly managed and let fame and a taste of fortune get to his head, plus he had a weak chin. Of course a positive HIV test kind of put a small kink is his boxing career as well (even though he is allegedly cured from the disease), but damn his fights were exciting.
